<< You are but a leaf

There seems to be a common agreement among religions about divinity's presence in humanity.

Though we differ on the precise nature of this phenomenon and what it means for us, some believe it allows the divine to experience life and enrich itself through our common experiences.

We are in this sense leaves of a giant tree, constantly feeding off and providing to, an element so much more meaningful than we all are. This tree thrives and grows in participation with the leaves, but these last ones cannot exist without it.

Existence, conscience and our roles in the universe are ultimately an absolute mystery. We serve a purpose which we don't understand and we navigate our lives struggling for this understanding.

It seems however that truth lies not in the dark hand of cynicism, which whispers to our ear the ultimate usefulness of life; but in the different voices of hope we hear from the religions of the world and all this entails.

After all, if there is a God, wouldn't the almighty have different ways of approaching it's children much kinder with their own understanding of the world?

The remarkable coincidences in our myths and traditions point to a bigger reality so vast that any attempts to describe it naturally exceed our individual capacity to do so.

Viking lore used to say everyone worships Odin all the time, they use a different name, a different shape and they don't know but they all worship Odin still.

Our understanding will always be incomplete. The divine nature we might never really comprehend.

Let us not despair though. We are, after all, just a leaf...
